I hope you are right, but that it has been put up before and put down, and is here again is a bad sign. It means there is a group on the other side of this issue really pushing. This new bill is short, requires no rep to appropriate money for it, and is ripe for a back room rider passage. Senator X gets Nielson's vote for his new bridge and in return, Senator Nielson's little snake bill gets added to a omnibus infrastructure spending bill. No line item veto, and who would stop billions in stimulus spending to protect the rights of a "few weirdos that keep man-eating pythons in their bathtubs"...
This bill is dangerous, and makes for really boring news, and no body really cares about it but us... and those hell-bent for leather that anyone who keeps anything other than cats and dogs are irresponsible subversives that need to be stopped before we start seeing snakes on planes and anacondas in Arizona.
At the very least, send the email. If you want, do more. Don't assume that someone else will send enough email to protect your rights, they won't.
