well, he is a little oinker...has been eating mice...3 a week to be exact...can only get small mice or medium rats where we get ours locally...am wondering if ya'll think he would be able to eat a rat yet?  Like I said I don't want him growing too fast on me, but the prices are killing my checkbook!!  Any opinions?  I would give an idea on how long he is but I have no way to measure...wait a min...

OK so a regular sheet of paper is 11 1/2 inches long...i laid him out with one...just over 3 paper lengths...so about 3 feet long...his circumference is more than a quarter not quite a half dollar...(I'm doin the best I can with what I got ya'll)...so would a rat be too much for him?

Or should I look into rabbits?

What size mice has he been eating?  And three at a time??  Seems like he could take a small/medium rat just fine.  You could order feeders from RodentPro.com.  Are you feeding live, p/k, or f/t??

We feed live...and yes we know the dangers of feeding live...we keep a close eye on each one until the rodent is swallowed...when one (rodent that is) seems feisty, we stun it at least...so Rodent pro is out for us...just found out today someone close by raises rabbits to sell...am going to talk to them this afternoon :) maybe we can luck into a deal with some of the babies and smaller ones...have to check them out first make sure they aren't sickly or covered in parasites

we usually start em on rabbits when they're about 5-6 feet... shouldn't never see a mouse though... just like retics they can take a rat pup fresh out of the egg. You've got a great looking animal, and while I know you're not in a hurry for it to get big... just feed it on the light side. Underfeeding can cause some major problems down the road. Typical rule of thumb for all pythons is you want the food item to be one and a half times as thick as the thickest part of the snake. one of those once a week should be just fine for that guy. Small to medium rats sound like the ticket for now :) he's a great looking burm, I miss when mine was that little... gonna fix that and get another one this year though :)
