Tara i think that particular scale is going to do you just fine!  As long as it is digital can weigh grams, then thats all i look for in a scale.  The only problem is your boa will max it out.  Here is one of the scales i use, i have had for years and of course to really sell the product you need a georgous model posing  with it.

juddb.. does that scale recognize 1 gram? I have Crested Geckos ..fresh hatchlings are usually 2 grams or so; and I have a Ball Python, so I still need maximum to be quite a range. And if I get the juvenile M. bredli pair (Centralian Pythons), I'll need a scale for 20lbs or better, eventually.

How heavy is your heaviest M. viridis? Do you use this same scale for the larger "kids" ?

Thanks Judd!!  Yeah this will be primarily for the ball pythons.  Boots is 14lbs according to the human scale that we have at the house (me and him then just me = him being 14 lbs)

SBG,
Did you get the 7001? I have that one. I use it for my ball pythons. Works great.  I like to use it for the snakes food items also, so I can keep track of how much is going in and how much is being converted to body mass.

Aminah,
A good scale for geckos is the i300. I have one for my geckos. It is the same as the 7001 but with a 0 - 3000 gram scale and 0.1 gram resolution.

I got them both from RBI.

I have the 7001 also, so was going to pipe in on it.  So far I've been really pleased with it.  You do have to replace the bowl when weighing larger snakes, but it works out fine with a little preplanning and a small litter box pan will fit on it if you give it clearance around it to weight bigger snakes.  The provided bowl is great up until you are over 2000 gms or so.

Lol, I was just talkin to a friend about this earlier.  I have yet to get a scale, been kinda sidetracked.  I just have the one ball python right now so not really in a hurry.

I did use the 7001 at the show though and when I get one, it will probably be the one that I get.

Lmao, yes you can certainly go get any normal kitchen scale, but it may not weigh in grams.  You can easily google any pounds to grams website online and it tell you what you need to know.  It may not be exactly precise, but it's still better than nothing in my eyes.
