My Iggy Family.....
« on: February 17, 2009, 10:17:24 PM »
Ok here's some pictures of my Iggy crew...LOL...

This is Squiggy (female) She'll be 3 in August....

This Squirt (female) She just turned 2.. I rescued her from the local pet store on Valentines day,she was so little, I’m sure she wasn’t but maybe about 1 or 2 wks old, her belly wasn’t even healed it was still red and open from where the yoke sack was. I had to force feed her for awhile because she wouldn’t eat. Didn't think she was going to make it.. lot of sleepless nights....But she’s doing great now....She getting so big she's not my little Squirt any more..LOL....

This is Gilligan (male) He's my good boy...He'll be 2 in July.....

He HATES his picture taken..LOL

This is Ginger (female) She's a sweetie when she's in good mood.....She'll be 2 in July.....

This is Oliver...(male) From what I can guess he's a little over a year old. He's a rescue from the pet store...A woman brought him in the store and said her son was not taking care of him and she didn't know what to do with him..so the manager ask me if I wanted him..so you know what MY answer was....LOL.....He was another one that I didn't know if he was going to make it..so thin, very dehydrated, covered in mites, had MBD...a lot of sleepless nights with him too....but he's doing great now....

This is Abbigale.. (female) My red iggy.. She little over a year old...Yet again another rescue from the pet store...She wasn't as bad as the others......but she was thin and not very alert, dehydrated, color very pale, covered in mites too...she recovered nicely...she's is an ig with an attitude, she gives that evil eye watch out...LOL...

WOW finally done...that took a while...I'll do my Water Dragons later...I've got nine of them...LOL..

..and I thought 2 was enough!   ;)

They are all beautiful ..and very blessed to find someone to rescue them and rehabilitate them.

Do you have them all cohabiting? In one of the pics, it looks like there's quite a few tails for just one Ig'kid.   :P   If so, are they mature enough to breed.. or are they altered? Aren't they seasonal breeders? (I haven't read that much detail on breeding yet... I don't have any intention to breed them.) If so, can they be housed together when it's "off season"? I'm just curious..

I have a pair here.. possibly a male and female... but they are really small and it's hard to tell. (They are both rescues ..one was injured when I got it/her.. both malnourished, dehydrated, etc.) I just picked up the finishing items for their giant enclosure, yesterday, so they will be separated here very soon. Just to be safe.

Ok Lets try this again...LOL..

Thanks Everyone,

Ivona:

Yep Oliver is my special little boy....Took a lot to bring him back..I really had my doubts whether he was going to make it or not...it was touch & go for a while....I was only going to rehabilitate him and then give him back to the pet store...I really did need 2 male iggys....Well I did just that and when he was healthy enough I gave him back...Well I cried & cried & cried for days because he was gone...well he was down there for about two weeks and Javiar (the manager) said that he wasn't doing very well..he's not eating, he won't let anyone touch or handle him...he was trying to bite and whip everyone...so I ask him if I could have him back he said sure......so I wasn't feeling good that day so I sent my husband (John) and daughter (Catherine) down there to get him and John said when they got there Oliver was in the back in the corner of the enclosure and Catherine opened the door and called his name and he turned around and saw her and went running over to her and ran up her chest and tucked his head under her chin..John said it was the cutest thing he'd ever seen a reptile do...everyone at the store couldn't believe what thet just saw...well he's home now where he belongs....

Aneesas Muse:

Yes I have 4 of the igs living together 3 females & 1 male...they get along very well...we have our squabbles every now and then but nothing serious...Mainly who wants to be "KING" of the top shelf..LOL...Squiggy my oldest female won't have any thing to do with them..she like her space all to her self and Oliver is by himself.....They also get to free roam when it is their turn. I also have all my water dragons living together..3 males & 3 females and then the 3 new babies are together in their own viv..not sure of their sex yet......Yes they are old enough to breed but I don't breed them...Three of my females have already laid eggs....Squiggy my oldest just laid 39 eggs last week...

Playing "KING" of the shelf

Squiggy

her eggs

So far I have been really lucky with everyone getting along...I always hear horror stories about iggys  & WD's (water dragons)
fighting and not getting along......Everyone always asks me what's my secret....gosh I don't know....Everyone at Reptic Zone calls me "The Lizard Queen"..LOL..we all have nicknames for each other over there...

Congrats on your new iggys...if you need any help or advice just let me know..I'd be glad to help in any way I can.... :music3: :party1:

Now that's beautiful  ;D  Yup, that guy is def special.
Today my cousin came to visit and he wanted to look the baby iggy ! So Once I opened the door of the new cage, she was alright, licking my hand and all that ( I just made her new cage, so don't want to get her out couple of day, so I just change her food and water and  give her some touch , but no picking her up). And as soon as Ivan (my cousin) came closer she got upset . I wouldn't let him to lay a hand inside, just to take a better look on her beauty  ;D  But no way, she just get nervous so we let her alone ! Even I don't like to confess, but damn that was good feeling being someone who she trust  :D

Wow.. that is awesome!!  :happy30:

I am sooo glad they get along and are doing so well! Thank you for the pics and the explanation. I really appreciate that you came back and retyped it all for us ..thanks a bunch!

I am hoping that my two can remain together, but I am prepared to separate them, of course.

I will definitely be picking your brain about your beautiful enclosure... I am still stumped as to which route I want to take for Em and Ezzy. My hubby and I rent our duplex, so I need something that can be mobile (once we move out of this gawd forsaken jungle of a ghetto fabulous city.. ahem..  back on topic) yet really accommodating for two rambunctious little Ig'kids, too   ;)
