well i just finsihed setting up a new enclosure for my 2yr old Cottonmouth.
my first attempt at doin this didn;t work out so well as alota water got into the substraight, because i had no way to realy layer it away an i didn't feel like tryin to find an caulking. When the people across form us moved they left behind 6 6 foot by 3 foot sheets of insulating styrofoam so no use in wasting it my land lord gave it to me long with anythin else thatw as left (ah the +'s of livin in a trailer park! someone moves n its like xmass XD lol infact i just got a new aquarium due to someone moving XD but anyway).
I had my bf cut the styrofoam an make a peice to go across to "dam" up the water a bita n figured i might could layer rock anut my substraight on it, much like i ahve done with emperior scorpions in the past, but alas as you can see in the pic below the water was abit much.

soo taking this nice 40gal tank, an used 4 peices of styrofoam whih were cut to fit inside to make a half an half setup. 1 peice of styrofoam was used to block water from the widith of the tank, while the other 3 were placed stacked ontop of each other to give the substraight a way to be out of the water an create a slight sloap. Rocks were added to the ater side to give the snake soemthing shallow to rest on as well as a slightly deeper area.
Large river rocks that I collect when I go out camping an herping down the road on the Conasaga River were then placed around ontop of the layered styrofoam, an once which actulys loaped verry nicely was put in the water. Then the fake plants which I usualy get my artifical plants from the dollar store (Alot cheaper!) an used the styrofoam as an anchor for them then applied a nice layer of cypress mulch ontop of an around everything in the land area.

All the gaps have been packed full where there were any to make it so that my snake couldn't get behind or benith anythin that could harm him. He has a plenty of places to hide, an enough room to be comfortable ^_^ his heat light has been placed about midway over one ofthe large rocks in the tank so he has a nice basking area an a temperature graident from where ever he would like to go.
