Stella Luna BRB
« on: December 08, 2011, 07:48:47 PM »
She -just- shed her skin, so I took her out in the afternoon sun for pictures! Her iridescent colors (which are caused by microscopic ridges in the scales) will actually change color values during different times of the day. Closer to evening she shocks most people because she glows purple! This morning it was more blues and greens. I'm very disappointed that the camera could not capture all of her sheen. The whole snake was literally radiating rainbows. Guess she's better appreciated in person.

If you add me on FB you can see a video as well. Again, image capturing technology (at least what I have) does her no justice. Hope you enjoyed looking at her as much I do!

Thank you! I found her on Craigslist and was blown away by her neon colors. Most BRBs are too brownish and dull for me, but she just takes my breath away. Ended up trading a koi tattoo for her! :)

WOW! Now that's some beautiful red on her.  You sure she a Brazilian and not a Peruvian Rainbow. PRB have a lot deeper Red to them. Just like she does. She is just freaking amazing. The first picture is just insane.

Thanks Chuck!

Good thought, but I'm pretty sure she's just a screamin Brazilian. If you can think of any Peruvian "tells" let me know and I'll check it out.

They don't really color up until around two years of age. Then they tend to have super deep reds and oranges. A lot brighter than most BRB. Plus their markings are bolder and thicker.  Also they don't tend to have much yellow in the marking on the sides. And last where BRB fade out some with age PRB  hold their color.
