So... I had to pull the mangrove out the other day to get some stuck shed off and I noticed his somewhat advanced case of Respiratory Infection

He has no audible breathing but he has quite an excess of mucus and breaths bubbles under stress.... I guess that is one rather annoying disadvantage of hots, handling them less makes problems like that less likely to be discovered... Just looking at him in his cage, I would never have known.
In addition to the RI he has a slight case of stomatis, likely a secondary infection brought on by the mouth rot.
I do not think this is a recent problem that developed over night or anything, it seems to me like something that has been in the works for a while, possibly even before I got him, although at this point in time (until I talk with the previous owner) I think it may have started during shipping when he was cooled rather significantly if only for a night...
So as to what I am doing about this.
I have him in a quarantine sterelite tub, minimalistic set up. He has a UTH, news paper, and a hide. He gets access to water at night (when he is awake to get to it) from a tiny little water bowl to keep as little humidity as possible.
I scrubbed his mouth clean with a qtip dipped in chlorhexidine to remove the little bits of white crap (yes thats the scientific term) and fight the bacteria in there. I will probably repeat this in a few days...
And now.... we wait...
