Hello!
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:51:04 PM »
It's been a couple years since I was on a reptile forum, but I've been told that this one is pretty great. :D

My name is Heather. I'm an Artist in North Hollywood. I specialize in tattoos, fine art (oils, acrylics) and scarification. My hobbies are sleeping, eating, drinking, belly dance, swordsmanship, video games and poi spinning.

I also have an incredible passion for reptiles and arachnids. Like many others (I'm sure) I operate a private rescue and try to network unwanted or abandoned reptiles to new homes. I also do educational lectures for those looking to work with exotics, and students of all ages. My target audience are those who will be working in pet stores. I feel I can attack the problem at it's source by educating future PetCo (etc) employees before they spread misinformation, or send a reptile to a home that is obviously not suitable for it. Working with other creative people, I also wrangle my animals for Photographers and those looking to use them in other sorts of media. My favorite project so far was a music video by The Cave Singers that a few of my favorite snakes were in (it's called "Dancing on our Graves"). Since I've now completed my tattoo apprenticeship, I'm making this work a priority again.

It's very nice to meet you all!

Thank you! Glad to meet you.

I'm glad. The last forum I was on had way to much drama for me.

I'm not one to bite someones head off regarding their own opinion. I can't say I support many hyprids, though I'm going to be getting one soon myself. A King x Milk. I feel these snakes are so closely related that there should be no problem. I'm also very fond of Bateaters. The hybirds I am not comfortable with are things like Burmballs, Bloodballs, etc... Though I cannot professionally validate it, I personally feel that you're asking for health problems. I'm all for seeing something new, but I don't support playing Mad Scientist (sorry if I have offended anyone these are just my personal opinions).

Right on. I do love some T-Talk! Happy that there's a well-rounded interest here.

Thanks for the kind welcome. :) Here's my Herp-List as of now:
4.1 Corn Snake (Oketee, Almenistic, Hypo Charcoal, Coral)
0.1 California King Snake (Mosaic)
2.0 Columbian Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor
1.0 Yellow Anaconda
0.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa
0.1 Kenyan Sand Boa (Anerythristic)
2.1 Royal python
1.0 Spotted Python
1.0 Jungle carpet Python
0.2 Bearded Dragon (Normal, Citrus Tiger)
0.1 Green Iguana
0.0.1 Bosc's Monitor
0.0.1 Argentine Black and White Tegu
[Also 0.1 Chilean Rose Hair tarantula, 0.1 Mexican Fire Leg, 0.1 Green Bottle Blue (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens), 0.0.1 Fringed Ornamental (P. Ornata) 0.1 African Flat Rock Scorpion]
I also have a few new snakes on the way. Within the next few months (after I get my rack built) I'm expecting 1.1 Retics (Purple Albino & Super Tiger), as well as a 1.0 Black Blood and the aforementioned Colubrid Hybrid. :)

I suppose I could attach a few pictures. I'll just throw up some nice ones. If there's anything you would specifically like to see let me know! If these are too large I'm sorry! Please instruct me on how to fix them.

Murray the black & white, dressed in his Black & White. Lol

Grey Girl and Bella relaxing in the sun. Grey Girl was found running around San Diego emaciated. Bella was found in a residential area.

Bridget. I need to get a better picture of her colors.

Coco the Savannah Monster. I love the expression on her face. On my wrist is a portrait of a Columbian Black and White Tegu I used to have.

Wiley the Okeetee. He was left in a cardboard box in the rain outside of a Petco.

Elvira, the beautiful Mosaic Cali King.

One of my first pictures of Trick. He's growing like a weed! never realized how much I love anacondas!

Irwin (after Steve). Omnomnom.

Mooki (because she looks like a cow). Tripled in size relatively quickly.

Slinky (spotted python). I actually love this picture. Iridescence is one of my favorite things about snakes!

Cheeto. Thought this was an awesome pose.

Dante is my first rescue. He was emaciated, had terrible RI and mites everywhere. Now he's one of the most handsome Columbians ever and a total snuggler!

Odin is one of the offspring from another Boa I rescued.

Sebastian and Beyonce.

 Stella Luna my BRB.

Amiri the AFR

Candice. I went through a phase where all of my tarantulas were named after female WWE wrestlers lol.
Dryad P. Ornata.

Gypsy GBB

Ginger the Mexican Fire Leg

and a sample of my Tattoo work ;D
Please feel free to find me on Facebook!
I would love to join your chat session. What is the Shout Box? I haven't seen that on a forum before.

Wow Heather, I like your style. Sounds like you'll fit right in around here. That's Tegu looks violated, lol. Your animals look very healthy and well cared for, and you seem to have a pretty good handle on things. Welcome to the Dark Side

Hey Donnie! Carla said these were your boards! Very nice. :) I missed you guys! Got caught up with my apprenticeship and didn't have time for anything else (except my reptiles of course). I used to go by ToraSerpentina.

hahah yeah, poor guy. One of my clients got me those dog sweaters for him last year. Last year he was swimming in them, and now he almost doesn't fit. There's also a REALLY cheesy Christmas sweater with a stupid snowman on it. I'm thinking Tegu Christmas Cards...

Is Reign huge now? lol

Thank you! I love the picture of your yellow. Don't you just go crazy over that cobalt blue sheen? :D

I'm not sure on Stella's exact age. I only acquired her recently. I want to say she's a bit over a year or so?
