Love Those Big Constrictors
« on: September 25, 2011, 09:01:04 AM »
I've raised snakes for 49 years and have to say my greatest passion other than raising all snakes has always been working with large constrictors. Snakes aren't mean or evil nor killers because they are large but can be as gentle as small snakes can be. Size doesn't determine a snakes temperament, the time invested working with them does.

Thank you I'm VERY proud of them both. Male and female both ten years old and last vet appointment measured 11 feet and my female is close to 100 pounds.

Thank you :O) They aren't anything like a common Boa and have serious respiratory problems if kept like the common Boas. Boa Constrictor Occidentalis don't well tolerate high temps nor high humidity. They are the only snake in existence documented that can survive a core temp of 50 degrees for a prolonged period of time without health problems or without dying.
They are an EXTREMELY rugged and tough snake and still with their huge size they are as calm and as placid as a Corn Snake if handled and worked with a lot.
