Hello from FL!
« on: December 07, 2010, 11:34:40 AM »
Hi everyone! My name is Laura, and I've been around reptiles for almost 20 years. I was lucky enough to have parents who started me out early, lol.

I live in good old Gator Country, in Gainesville, FL, all of about 2 miles from the University of Florida campus. Things can get pretty wild around here during football season!

I currently own 2 Pastel Colombian Red tail Boas, a male and a female. I don't think I'll produce a clutch this year, but I'm really hoping that next year will provide some beautiful babies.

I also have a female Dumeril Boa, who is only about 2 months old. I won't be able to breed her, however, as she has a deformed tail, but that's ok.

I'm hoping to rebuild my collection over the next few years. Before we moved to Gainesville I had a living room FULL of herps, and I miss it. I've realized that I'm not happy unless I'm surrounded by reptiles. And books.

Anyway, I'm not really good at these introduction things, but I'm always willing to answer questions.

0.1 Suriname Boa (Incendia)
0.1 Pastel Colombian Boa (Kallisto, Kalli for short)

Okay, for the pics.

This is my female Pastel, she's around 5 years old, and stretches to almost 6' long. Meet Kallisto:
When I first brought her home:

A few months ago:

Essus, my male Pastel Columbian. At best guess, he's about 2 years old, and just shy of 3':

Madb (pronounced Mibe, a Gaelic name), my Dumeril female:

I'll have to load more pictures later, I didn't realize I hadn't taken them all off my phone yet.

As for what my parents keep - it's more along the lines of what they DIDN'T have, lol. Kingsnakes, Kenyan Sand Boas, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, red tails, Brazilian rainbows, skunks, squirrels, a peacock, you name it. Oh, we also had a full-fledged pack of wolves and hybrids, as well.

Got the missing pictures off my phone, so here are a few more. It would appear, however, that I need to take more of my female Pastel, because I don't seem to have any good ones anymore. Oh well, here's what I found.

Madb

Essus:

And I don't own this one, yet, but I hope to have him by Christmas, if I can. Thankfully, the owner of the reptile store I volunteer at is a wonderful man, and is willing to hold him for me until I am employed again and can pay for him. He is a Kahl Hypo Colombian Red Tail, straight from the man himself. Apparently he is friends with the store owner :D

Amazingly enough, he's only $125, so I'm hopping on the bandwagon while I can, lol

Oh my.  That shall be my next investment.  First purchase from any profits I get from my red tails when they get breeding age ^_^
