I can't help it being very curious about the yellow heads on albino retics.  Some heads of adult albino's are dominated by white with little yellow in it, some have mostly yellow with a little white and others are somewhere in between, but the ones that really are awesome are the ones with a full yellow head, even the sides of their lower jaw (and maybe underneath as well) completely yellow.  That got me a few things wondering.

- Does the yellow colour on the head fade a little bit when growing?
- Do other things influence the yellowness on the head, like the different albino morphs or each snake individually?
- The ones with the VERY VERY yellow head: is that just like previous question, different morphs or the individual snake or are they actually a yellowhead x albino cross?

Yellowhead on normals isn't a morph... it's a locale thing. I think locales that the albinos have been crossed with probably does have alot to do with it. I have seen tons of albinos heads fade to white, it's definately not uncommon or rare by any means. I've also seen alot of them stay yellow.

Your purple looks just like reign did... I'm betting she has a bright yellow head as an adult.

Whic is more desired yellow or white, or does it matter?  I kinda get the feeling yellow is but im justbeing curious...

It's just a matter of personal preference. I have seen certain dishonest individuals try to claim a white head is a rare genetic trait that they think only they have and it contributes to them being the king retic breeder of the world... etc... etc... I personally really love a bright lemon yellow head on a nice dark purple, but a white phase with a ghost white head is a bad ass looking snake too.

Thats pretty neat I never woulda reaized there was a difference.  after looking at pictues i think i prefer the White but either way thee good looking animals.

donnie maybe you are on to a good selective breeding project dealing with trying to isolate the traits for head color of albinos to make more wicked looking snakes. it should be possible but would take a long time to get to the goal seeing as how long it takes for boids to mature to breeding size.

welll... not all boids, lol. but female retics yes. As with any other breeding project. But Then again all you're doing is producing a mixed locale albino with a pretty head. Can't really be called anything but an albino.

after a certain amount of generations, once you get to what you set as your goal and are producing what you are looking for in pretty much ever litter you can call it something. that is how the selective breeding works, all it does is control what happens in nature.
