Point was that if it was from the pythons they would all be showing signs or be dead already. It's possible it may have come in with the new boas and spread to the pythons but does it really kill THAT quickly in pythons? Under 2 weeks?
Analyzing the whole situation more I still am hesitant to say IBD. All the symptoms this guy was showing that we related to IBD can also be explained by severe starvation and loss of muscle functions.... and he was most certainly severely starved....

Severe malnutrition can cause similar affects with the loss of muscle.

that animal would have had to been almost a year old and never eaten to be that thin, unless accelerated by something else... And no, they would not all be showing signs or dead already. It's just not something to gamble with. The slightest chance at all that it could have been should mean instant 100% quarantine.

Sylvia, I'm going to provide some links to other IBD information also for your reading.  Donnie gave his knowledge and honestly is bold cause IBD isn't something to play with.  I would advise your employer/friend/whatever to have the snake neocropsied to see if it was IBD or not because in fact, the symptoms won't show right away and it could easily spread too fastly for anyone to notice for the sake of the animals in that store and all of the animals that the people who buy animals/stuff even touched from that store have at home and etc.

Hope these links provide some other verification about IBD and will advise you to talk to your employer/friend/whatever he is into getting a necropsy and checking all of his other animals very closely.
