thesnakekid:  The vet information link is www.vin.com ......... Find a vet, or vet tech-type person who can register and log you in. It's information, but only accessible to professionals. See if you can find someone in your area who would qualify. You may find more help there.

VIN.com is only available to Veterinarians. I am a certified Vet-Tech at an exotics equipped ER animal hospital that's been listed in Reptiles Magazine. I do know that you don't get a VIN ID without the schooling, credentials, and the degree with the fancy & expensive 3 letters at the end of your name that a veterinarian has. And I don't know any working doctor that would be willing to just give away their username and ID to anyone. Too much liability.

Donny_K: Yes A/D is for cats/dogs, but it was recommended by my vet and when the OP was given a snake to try and resurrect, the A/D food kept it alive, helped it gain enough strength to where it could eat and digest on its own, and the snake is now adult, 3 kg and thriving.

Like I said, can you use A/D? Absolutely. I just thought there were better alternatives.
However, this snake hasn't been noted by the OP to be a problem feeder or loosing any weight.
Would you agree that force-feeding is a last-resort measure on a starving animal?

I just figure no food is better than force-feeding a liquid diet at this point.
Again, it's just my opinion, and we appreciate yours.

But we all have to make our own decisions on how to treat, care for and "save" our pets.

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more! I think you've been a really great asset to the Darkside. It's always awesome to have different views and different ideas to help out another member. I think it is a positive thing to give the reader options and decide what is best. I was just trying to give what I thought is best as well, the same as you. There is never just one right answer when it comes to medical advice, but there can be wrong ones too. I wasn't trying to knock you, just giving my perspective.

I'll look forward to your posts! You seem to have a lot of interesting/informative stuff to put on the table. Cheers!
Cheers!

Also, A/D is a prescription diet. If the OP doesn't have a local vet nearby, it will probably be pretty hard to acquire.
Something like Carnivore Care or Critical Care might be easier to obtain.

If it gets to a point where the snake NEEDS to be syringe fed, A/D can be used and it CAN work... It's just made for Felines/Canines, not reptiles. And a snake has different nutritional requirements than a cat or dog, obviously. Which is why I suggested something different. Again, wasn't trying to knock you. Honestly, I thought maybe I could just put more info on the table, even for you.

Here's a link to Breif Description of A/D for anyone who was wondering about it. I can prolly get all the nutritional facts from work out of the rep's Hill's book just to put good info out into the community about it, if anyone is interested.

 :snake1:
I appreciate all the advice here, and I'll only suggest the use force feeding as a last resort too. For now I'll ask my friend to just give it a small bowl of water and wait another week more to see the improvement.

I think it's quite building to have different kind of view.

So anyone know the organ structure of a snake? I really hope I can have more understanding on them and the forum in my country are not as informative and mostly profit related :(

Sometimes the local Pet Smarts have A/D, but I'd call before making a trip just in case.

Yes, they sell it at PetSmart, but they require a prescription. I have to fax it all the time for this dying cat we see.

Awww that's pitiful!!  I knew years ago they had prescription food otc, but that was many many years ago so I'm sure things have changed since then.
