I'm with ya on this one Tara!!!! Heat lamps really suck out humidity not to mention force too much intense heat in one direction. There are just way better and safer ways to heat an enclosure that is a lot more beneficial to a snake.
Yes indeed Carla!  I used to use a heat lamp when I first started out for my boa but didn't know any better.  I have seen the results of using the uth's and getting the humidity at correct level's first hand with shedding so I wouldn't recommend any different!!

That's GREAT News !!!! Ball Pythons sure can be picky sometimes.

with the warm weather of the moment, im only using my heat mat. it gives sufficient heat, 90-95F right above it, and around 75F in the rest of the tank.
