Kill Rule Change!!! Why aren't we fighting?
« on: May 05, 2010, 09:07:11 PM »
I am really upset right now!!! I just went to the government regulations page and saw that 1994 people have made public comment. The problem is 1539 of those comments were actually made in 2008 during the NOI. That means only 455 have been made since the proposed rule was published in the federal register back in March 2010. What is even worse is that half of the 455 are from HSUS and other AR groups. That means that only about 200 members of the Reptile Nation have made comment!!! Why is no one making comment? This is really bad! USARK has been spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours fighting this. We need the Reptile Nation to stand up and make comment NOW! DEADLINE is Tuesday May 11, 2010!!
Go To www.Kill-RuleChange.com and make public comment.

I have heard a lot of pissing and moaning about unfair legislation and regulation. Venting on a forum will not change one thing out there in the world! What will change things are individuals taking action... Have You Taken Action? Make public comment!!!!!

Kindest Regards,
--Andrew

Why is he pissing people off? This post has reminded me that I haven't visited that site and made a comment, so off I went and posted.

Thanks for posting this Sylvias.

I honestly don't feel that this post was made to upset anyone in the Reptile Community but to make a point of the seriousness of this situation and what a devastating effect it can have on our hobby.

If this goes through our entire hobby will be under the gun so to speak and it is up to us to share our feelings and opinions as well as defend our love and passion for our animals and the entire Reptile Community and the Reptile Nation.

If USARk is fighting for our rights we should share in that responsibility by all means!!!!!

I would have to agree with Carla.  I don't go on Sam's site but have seen his facebook posts about the situation over at his forum.  Honestly, I don't blame Andrew to an extent for acting the way he is.  USARK does so much for the reptile community while a large majority of reptile keepers are not doing their part.

Document ID: FWS-R9-FHC-2008-0015-1397: Injurious Wildlife Species: Listing the Boa Constrictor, Four Python Species, and Four Anaconda Species as Injurious Reptiles

When will I be able to view my comment online?

I am not trying to be a dick here but when I posted my comment it stated that it could take up to several weeks for them to be processed and viewed by the public. There literally could be thousands of people that did comment but they just arent up for viewing yet :) Just may be one reason why you only see so few right now posted.Just an idea like I said before I am not trying to be a dick or start something just pointing out what the site told me.

We've been fighting this battle for how many years now Peter?  What is a few weeks time to see a post?

Because they haven't posted to the public doesn't mean they weren't received and haven't been read. Big servers store data and I'm sure EVERY comment that was posted has been received and reviewed.

You also have to consider they have controls on vocabulary, etc so these all have to be read and sorted through so only the ones that are posted with explicit vocabulary don't accidentally get posted.

I was just pointing out what the site told me. I don't know how long this public comment thing has been open.  Like I said I wasnt trying to be mean but to simply point out what the site had said and figured maybe that might be why there wasnt many new ones yet. Who knows its the damn government they only post what they want us to see anyways. Thats why internet polls and comments arent true half the time because the people running it are biased to the cause one way or another and will post results that help them not what the reality is. Yes some are legit but come on you dont think HSUS has got there grubby ass little paws in on this public comment crap and are selecting what to post and what not to post at times? The are filling someone's wallet as we speak to push there bills through. I don't think it would be farfetched for them to be paying these people to swing this there way. I really am not trying to cause a problem here and it's just my opinion but i really think that its good to do everything possible to stop the bans but when comments are wanted I don't think there isnt some kind of foul play going on from the agency running this to post only certain posts.

I know you're not trying to be mean silly. LOL
Just trying to get you to take into perspective how long this war has been going on and as far as politicians, I don't trust any of them, but I do totally trust USARK and it's representatives.
Hell., Peter I trust very few humans why I prefer the companionship of snakes over people so I'm less trusting an individual than you are. LOL
