I dunno about your critters, but everything I have here that eats insects, even the ones that showed no interest in crickets go NUTS over some dubias
much healthier for them too.
I breed both dubia and crickets in bulk....
personally, I think crickets get a bad rap.
yes they are slightly harder to breed than dubia, but they are cheaper and cycle much faster so in the end they are a much more economical feeder.
Yes the whole "shell to meat" argument. I understand that one also but in reality, the best diet is a variety in ANY animal. So a couple dubia offered with a couple crickets would be better than just dubia IMHO. And the argument over smell, they both molt. Dubia release MUCH more fluid excretions daily and eat much more.
The smell attributed to crickets is mostly due to bad husbandry, plus you must accept their life cycle= HOPEFULLY a higher death rate. Just a fact of numbers. I can buy 12 crickets at a local pet shop and within 6 months, I can have over a 1000 easily.And that is of any size cricket. Try that with adult dubias.
