Good Lord Carla!!! They are Huge. Lovely snakes though. Does anyone help you handle them? What type of enclosure are they in? I don't keep large snakes at the moment so I am just curious.
Thanks Peter, I've been told by a few Boa breeders mine are the largest Argentine Boas they've ever seen in captivity at 10 feet and still growing and they own a third of my house so they really are neat to work with and care for just take A LOT more extra caution and lots of reading body language.
It takes three adults to take one outdoors with their girth and length and I've not handled them alone in the past three years once they hit that 6 foot mark it was not safe to do alone. I have my sons friends from the garage that feel alright helping me move them as long as i hold the front end. LOL
The entire two cage levels are secured to the picture window frame all the way around and has a big metal base cabinet under the bottom level to keep them up from the floor. Their two levels actually cover the entire picture window which I love for natural U V rays. All of my enclosures are near windows for that reason.
They have two indoor levels with a double wooden floor between them and a trap door in the center I can close and lock shut to feed them on the separate levels. Each level is 6 feet long 4 feet tall and 3 feet deep and there is a doorway that opens into their 13 foot long duo pane glass enclosure that is 4 feet off the ground with a double floor, glass hinged outside door and glass walls and ceiling. Also has a fully filtered water system and a pool and sprinkler. Took me one entire summer stitches twice and a broken thumb to build it but they have freedom when we hit 80 degrees and love it. :O)
