The Avalanche gene was first proved out as dominant in 2007 by us, Snowballs Ball Pythons. We again proved it to be dominant in 2008 with our second breeding efforts. The first season we bred it to a Spider and produced an amazing looking litter of Spiders that all had heavy dorsal striping somewhat similar to a reduced pattern Clown that is pictured here. Not one of the other litters made by this same spider or its parents have ever made anything that looked like this litter. Thinking it could be part of the genetics that makes Super Stripes because of the heavy striping tendencies we then bred the founding Avalanche dam to our Orange-belly YB male that came from Ben Siegel Reptiles and his line of Orange-belly YB's. The results were not what we had expected. No Super Stripes. But most of YB babies had the Avalanche gene and it is very apparent. We are now trying to breed the original dam to our Lesser this season to rule out the possibility that it could be the missing gene that makes Lessers into Platty Daddy's. Several others theories about the genetics need to be ruled out as well. It's only a matter of time. There is some discussion on wether or not it is a form of Fires/Sulfurs, but she the original Avalanche dam does not have the traits for them. Either way if the Lesser Hidden Gene effort proves out or not, we need a male out of this litter to prove this new mutation co-dominant.

Orange-belly YB sire

We bred the above Orange-belly YB to the founding Avalanche dam. This is what the Avalanche gene did to it.
