Anyone have any idea??
« on: March 04, 2010, 12:04:10 AM »
This is one of my female bp's. For the last couple of months I have noticed these "bleached" spots on her. Everytime she sheds it becomes more pronounced. I also have another female and a male that has a couple of these spots, but they are hardly noticable. I could have sworn that I say a similar post on fauna, but I can't find it. Any thoughts??

interesting... I've heard of certain types of bacteria causing something like this, but have never seen it myself. Hopefully someone can chime in with some experience on the matter.

It could be the paper your using. Occasionally when i use a certain kind of that light colored paper I see your using, it kind of "rubs off". But usually it comes off my guys when I give them a bath. Very strange indeed. None of the spots seem tender to touch the snake do they?

The paper I use is the same kind I've been using since I got her, 3 years ago. LOL plus I have all my other 50 something snakes on the same substrate :D  I haven't notice it bothering her to touch them, but then again, she is always flattened out everytime I handle her.

That's really weird. I would just keep an eye on it and if it starts oozing, or seeming to hurt or anything, take her to the vet to get a scrape on it.

Maybe I'll just take her in anyway. Before it gets serious, you know.

That almost perfect circle white spot on her back has changed into what looks like a sore. I will take a pic of it and post it later. She is going to the vet tomorrow.

I took Ivy to the vet today, and he was kinda unsure what this was as well. But since she has an open wound, he administered antibiotics orally to her at the office, and I have some to give her every other day for 5 doses ( a total of 10 days ). If this doesn't seem to help anything than he'll do a biopsy. I'll keep everyone posted as to what goes on with her.
