WTF's a Rodent Run?? (Photo Heavy)
« on: February 17, 2010, 03:01:07 PM »
Hey guys!! Here are some Photos of one of our recent Rodent Runs. Rick Krumrine & his wife Miriam are extremely good friends of ours. Being breeders, they also sell frozen rodents on the side as well. That being said, every 3 months we drive up to their house in the Middle-of-No-Where, PA after Rick brings back an enclosed trailer full from front-to-back-top to bottom of dead rodents.

All-in-all, it is thousands of dead rodents (five-digit-thousands) that need to be sorted, counted, and bagged. The whole process runs into the early morning, and depending on the help, could take into the next morning.

It is however, good fun despite all the work. It's a good time spent with good people, goofing off, drinking to keep warm, and talking about life, reptiles, and all sorts of inappropriate stuff.

Here's some photos from a recent trip, just for entertainment-value purposes. Enjoy!!

Mir and Frank (my fiance)

Anthony & Ted... they are breeders as well, mostly ball pythons. You'll see them all at local shows. And I'm not really sure what Rick is doing here... considering this was definitely definitely pre-Jager and Tequila.

Lots and Lots and Lots of Dead Rodents...

Packing lots and lots of Dead Rodents...

Mir & Me

TWO- ZEROOO. Sometimes the "labeling" of the rodents gets a little out of hand (and a little profane). Ex: "20 + Minority" for a big bag of white rats with one dark one mixed in. LoL, it's a very long tedious day, LoL. No harm, no foul.

Later into the night.

He really accidentally fell into the freezer. Post-Jager & Tequila.

Frank, diligently at work.

Burning of the Boxes.

About an EIGHTH of the boxes we unpacked.

Burning of the Boxes.

I can see the light!! The back wall of the trailer!!

SOME OF RICK'S SNAKES:

BIG Female Pied. She for sale for $3K. Me & Mir think she's gravid.
She just blows me way though... gorgeous.

Albino.

She loved to Pose.

Pinkest Copperhead Ever. Pictures do not do him Justice.

If you ever want to buy any venomous or non-venomous snake from Rick Krumrine Reptiles, do not hesitate. They are quality people with quality snakes. I'd trust them with my welfare, my snakes, welfare, or any of my pets welfare anyday.

Oh, and we hit a Deer going about 85mph in the middle of the PA Turnpike in the fast-lane at about 3:00am. These pics are kind of old (November's Run, not February's) so all has since been fixed!
Cheers!

Great thread and pictures and looks like a great way to spend time.

We do that around here all plan a trash burning day we dug a huge fire pit out back and we have all our friends here and collect everything burnable and the fire sometimes goes for several days. I can imagine the smoke from all that cardboard LOL

Honestly though it's a great way to spend time with friends and that's a LOT of rats. Bet there were some chilly fingers in that crew. :O) We usually have all of our wheelers out running while burning gotta play when working.

Awesome pics girlie!!  I doubt I could package those rodents without wearing some sort of gloves though, dead rodents are just plain stinky!!!  Glad you managed to escape safely from the night & the deer incident!!

P.S. Some of the pics didn't show up (little red boxes)  :(
