Jungle Carpet Python
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:43:18 PM »
Hey guys I know I shouldn't be asking a question like this because I already own this type of snake. But what is the average length on a Jungle Carpet Python? I have asked and looked around and can't seem to find my answer. Again I know stupid question. But thanks!

I ran into the same problem when I first got Ozzy, my surly JCP.  At the time, the best I could guess was somewhere between 7 and 14 feet in length, which is like forecasting 4-36" of snow - way too much wiggle room!

Most sites I've seen will say that the Jungles get between 5-8' in length, females being larger generally speaking.

Hope this helps!

Jungles come in several varieties
Each variety is named by its locality
Most black and golds are from Palmerston or the Tully areas
Palmerstons may reach 5ft
Tullys only reach about 3ft 6inch but pretty feisty
Atherton Jungles may reach 8ft but only if they have mixed it up with coastal carpets and these are very rare as black and gold with 99% of Athertons being more cream and brown

Jullaten black and whites are also small maybe 4ft-5ft max

Have played with jungles for years but have never heard of any approaching 14ft

No question asked should ever be considered a stupid question primarily because if you can learn something from more experienced people then you can also share that knowledge with other people that don't know   :happy64:

I've read and been informed from Carpet breeders that some species have been documented to get as long as ten feet in captivity but the most common length is usually around nine feet that being the Coastal Carpets.
