Pet Python Attack

I was linked to this video when LadyBloodRose posted it and when I watched it I was stunned. I find the timing rather odd seeing how we are having a battle to protect our rights in our hobby.

Naturally with my big defensive attitude I had to go on the video and start defending snakes and found I was sitting there really getting into politely insulting the people commenting and at the same time trying to educate them about our hobby and the reptile community all together.

Before I knew it a couple drifted over to my YouTube channel and started posting comments but needless to say was an entertaining evening on the keyboard.

Anyone want to verse their opinion on the video please feel free to join me in my efforts.

What set me off was the video is supposed to be about a Burmese Python attacking a family member and yet the Python they are representing in the video is a Reticulated Python. Staged???? Possibly???

Look at the size and conditions of the enclosure the snake was kept in. Why wouldn't a snake try to get out of a small enclosure with dried glue along the glass seams?

ARRRRRGGGGGG Ignorant People!!!!

Ugh complete idiots.  Unfortunately without proper education, people will continue having stories like this to tell.

quick question..can't you just get vinegar into the snakes mouth and it will let go? er is it rubbing alcohol? i get everything so jumbled up lol I also love how the narrator makes it seem like the only way to save her is to kill the snake...

All I've got to say is Steve Irwin would flip over in his grave if he could see the end results of all his time, love and dedication to wildlife and education and he sees what everyone is doing with that. Flipping it around and trying to turn it into a negative thing.

You can sue either and in some cases if you bend the snakes tail upwards it will upset the snake and distract it enough that it will release but that can be risky if you don't know how to read a snakes body language.

The entire video was staged against our hobby seeing how HSUS is putting money in their pockets for the SMEAR REPTILE NATION campaign.

They display their own ignorance when they posted the video because it's not a Burmese Python that it shows the children holding and the enclosure itself??? Right even the worst of snake owners would never house their big snakes like that.

They tried to OVER emphasize how mean and vicious big snakes are and in the process made themselves look like total morons.

I believe it was, "The only way to save her was to kill the snake - by complete decapitation."

Wait, what?  Did he have to fill the head with communion wafers, drive a stake through it's heart, and then burn the body so it wouldn't rise again?  No wonder that burm went after her - it was a damn vampire!  It did sparkle in the sunlight after all.  Hmmm...

NatGeo disappoints me.  Asshats.

ROFLMAO Here!!!! Awesome post and great interpretation of their half ass efforts to totally terrorize the public about snakes.
Yeah, I'm not at all happy with National Geographic and every chance I get I'm on that video making another rude comment about their character.

This is just sad. I have noticed more and more over the years that people are becoming more and more ignorant. It seems everyone says poisonous snakes, calls ball pythons killer snakes (LMAO), and always mix up burms and retics. It is just sad becuase what it really comes down to is that the few people who care enough to research there pets and beyond just the one type of animal they have are going to end up losing it all due to the few morons who dont bother and think they can just throw anything into a cage and call it good. I swear we need to start making it mandatory to take a competency test on a state level to own animals. That would solve 9/10 of our problems that we have with idiot owners. And the ones that screw up that passed the test cant say they didnt know and should be punished accordingly. God you have to take a test to drive a car why not have a test to own animals so at least you can prove you know how to give basic care to these animals and give them a fighting chance to have a good life. Sorry about my rant and im sure most wont agree but it is either lose the snakes or come up with another system to own them while educating people at the same time.

surpisingly to you i agree...if you can't prove you have the competence to own a snakw w/o either killing someone or getting close to killing someone you need to look into getting a gerbil or a leopard gecko. And if i ever heard someone seriously tell me a ball python is a killer snake i swear by all that is holy and just in the world i will slap the taste out their mouth, that would just be a dumb comment.

Its crazy. My friends across the street think my ball pythons are going to get huge and kill me. They tried to tell me that someone they knew had an 8 foot ball python and i tried to tell them they were wrong but they swore by it. hahaha They also tell me that my snakes are going to get out and strangle me in my sleep lmao. I have tried showing them links online to learn about ball pythons but they are backward rednecks who wont believe anything that you tell them. Granted i am a redneck but at least i know how to google information and not talk about shit i know nothing about. Yeah i have had several people tell me to be careful not to end up like the little girl down here in florida by letting my snakes kill me. I try to tell them that my biggest one is only 4'7" but they think thats huge and more than enough to take me down lol. But yeah a test of some sort to prove you are able to care for a living animal should be required for the species in which you want to purchase. I'm telling you it would solve alot of the problems we are having today.
