Cottonmouths new setup..
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:58:31 AM »
Welp that lil old  aquairum I wa using just wasn;t cuttin it any more. Just not enough room for my liking for my western cottonmouth pair to realy be comfortable.. So.. they got moved to the penthouse..

This encosure features uth, basking light, cypress mulch bedding (will soon have some leaves an what not for more natureal feel), rocks which form a nice overhang to create alil cubby hole cave for whom ever wishes to hide in it, fake plants, a large cat litter pan for the water feature which if i get my way will look more natureal soon as i can get the supplies, driftwood/logjam as it where  to let them hang out over the water or hide under while in the water. All the room they could ever want to do what they do best... Eat, Sleep, Crap, an Breed! The doors have sliding latches to lock at the tope an bottom n of course swing outward. ;).

Me an the female cotton..

Me and the male

The male chillin in the cage....

thanks hun, they love their enlcosure lol 5min after being in it they had tails locked AGAIN lol i am beginning to think they just like sex lol. So in 5 months hopefuly though I will have some babies.

As far as the chicken to keep them thing i hear that alot espiclay from other females. I think my determination an willt o keep them stems alot from my dad. I was raised with the "anyhing a male can do you can do an probly do it beter" mentality. The hot side of this hobby is mostly male, with a sprinkeling of females willin to take the risk. So I guess its one of the things that draws me personaly to this side of the hobby.
Anouther reason is that it allows me to do what I love and thats help educate. Its so much easier to educate about an animal with a visual aid an honestly nothing gets a groups attention faster then when you pull out a venomous snake from aholding box lol.

Of course while there are many males as i mentioend in this hobby there are more that are terrified of them. So its always great to see the look of disbelif an shock on a guys face when ou have a hot haha lol.

thats awesome, i dont mind the venemous part when it comes to myself being bitten. just my little sisters and small animals. i was the little kid bringing copper heads into the house but i havent dealt with anything like a cotton mouth. but yeah i know a ton of guys that see my boa( little harmless boa) and freak out. but whenever they do have babies i really want to see. i bet they're gonna be gorgeous
