now the scale rot is not as bad as it was when i first got her...but on he stomach it looks to be progressing =( no matter what i do i did a betadine 10% solution bath, i've recently started putting vitamin e on her. i just have my fingers crossed, and i feel like killing the previous owner over this shit  :Violent5:

Well the good news is she's in good hands now.  The downside, she will need to see a vet next chance you get. Good rescue though, let us know how she's progressing.

Make sure you have her quarantined from your other snakes, just in case. As for the scale rot, it doesn't look too horribly bad, with proper husbandry it should clear up fairly quickly. I also wanted to note that the snake appears to be BCI, not BCC, but full body pictures would make that assumption easier :) Good luck getting that snake in tip top condition!

Vet? for what?

as for the scale rot on the belly... you're gonna have to keep her off of anything that can stay wet such as carpet, or mulch, or anything of that nature. Switch to paper and change it every time it gets wet... try not to spill any water. You do NOT want a water dish big enough for her to climb into in there either. You want the humidity up so it stays moist... but drenched will only make it worse... I know, hard to do on a spot the snake lays on.

Also... gotta agree with abi... that's not a BCC, that's a BCI or Common Boa Constrictor/Columbian "Red Tail"

well...goes to show how much the guy i got him/her from knows =/ donnie...you'll get an up close and hands on look at the snake i'm bringing her with me(if its ok with you) along with the blood...as for the substrate and what not the humidity is already higher than it should be ;), already keep her on paper, and her water bowl could only fit her head... and to be honest the scale rot has impoved GREATLY it was quite gross when i first got her...she had skin intertwined with the "scabs" and her stomach was a brownish red..i figured out what to do from a conversation i had with you donnie a while ago about scale rot(on chat)never thought i would have to apply it(only wanted to buy from good breeders)

as for quarantine..it hard to do with a snake, seeing as how all my gf's family hates snakes...so they have to be in the same room but she is separated from Sapphire and Pheonix(bp and blood)

glad she's doing better. Probably best to keep them at home man... traveling with them like that will only stress them out, so there's no reason to do it unless absolutely necessary. Keep us updated on her progress.

i was hoping you could sex the red-tail for me and tell me what size rat he/she should be on...i would go to the vet but i honestly don't trust the reptile vet out here(which is why i try to keep my animals as healthy as possible) the blood i was going to bring because i can not find a live rat pup to save her life out here...there isnt one place that sells them and i remember out there, there is a petstore that sells them...i may have to try f/t but i want her to keep eating you know? she's just started eating for me and i want to keep the ball rolling...

and incase i havent made it clear it is final my gf and i will be coming up nov 13th and i'm hopin we could stay at your house.

At 4.5-5 ft that boa should easily be eating large rats. As for sexing, don't worry about that until the snake is healthy - that's unnecessary stress for a snake that isn't in tip-top shape yet.

Have you offered that blood f/t again yet? Since she is now eating she may be willing to take it. It wouldn't hurt to try, after all you can always give a live if she decides not to eat the f/t. It is crazy to me that there isn't a shop or breeder in your area with live rat pups - have you considered getting a pair of rats and just breeding your own? They are super easy to breed and care for. Also, if you haven't tried it... You can always post a Wanted: Rat Pups ad on Hoobly.com or Craigslist.com in your area. Just a thought!

i have called every petshop in this city and there isnt one place that sells them...now maybe i dont know snakes very well but that red-tail seems to be very not stresse at all...everytime i open its lid it slithers right to me(except for when its sleeping of course) the only reason i concider bring it is because it's not defensive, it took right way(i mean i dropped it in and in mid air it bit the rat), but if its really bad to bring him/her i wont...another question i have for you donnie is did you ever talk to akronreptiles about his friend who wanted that burm?
and as for the blood i might try to offer her f/t but if she doesnt take it i will be needed to get live from somewhere =( and by donnie's is the only place that i know of
