My Dwarf Retic
« on: January 06, 2009, 02:09:07 AM »
I've never tried posting here before so here goes. I finally decided I should take some pics to show the size of my Dwarf Retic. My apologies for the poor photos (Cell Phone). She's a Jampea locale. 3 years old, just under 12 feet and still growing. They can reach lengths up to 15 ft on average. She has a long thin tubular body but her strength is incredible.  Super dwarfs or Kayaudi locales apparently don't get as large but cross breeding with mainlands to create morphs such as tigers I would question their size potential.

Actully what you have there is a Normal Retic. Jampea are much different and if you would like I can post some pics.....
Monsters! Where my cankles are bigger than the snakes we've raised from babies.

Sorry I don't know why I always say 3 when she's 6 years old according to the previous owner. I got to sleep more instead of browsing the forums all night lol. I'm assuming it's the pattern everyone is questioning which is something I thought about too until I seen more images of Jampea locales. The ones from Kayaudi islands and the super dwarfs from Bob Clark and Mike Willbanks definitely have a different range of patterns but there are differences between this girl and the rest of my retics. She is also getting real dark as she grows older especially down the sides. I've owned 15 retics in the 35 or so years I've kept herps, 5 retics of which I own now. This is one of the few Jampeas up here in Canada but was originally imported through the US. Compared to the normal retics I've had she just one big worm and TINY but I'm happy with her. Now to find me a nice Albino and Yellowhead.

actually the firs thing that pops out at me on a jampea is the head, they're shaped different. Second would be the fact that they have silver eyes. Who produced this animal?

Thanks guys for the comments and concerns. I've seen many different variations in patterns, colors and eyes. Those patterns I've seen listed as Kayaudi too. I'm trying to track down info from the previous owner so I could deal with any inquiries but I don't want to start any debates. Just want to show some pics of my animals and enjoy chatting on this forum. Most dwarfs trace back to Bob Clark and Mike Willbanks. Like I mentioned before with the cross breeding and exporting cut off fromthe two islands it's difficult to say anymore. This Jampea certainly looks like it was crossed. Maybe in attempts to create the Super Dwarfs I'm not sure. I never worried about the true or pure lineage with my retics before since I had no plans to breed any of my large constrictors. Too many out there and too difficult to find so many responsible owners. I just enjoy keeping and handling them. I posted updated pics of my other 4. When I find some time I hope I can  get pics up of my Boas, Burmese and Anacondas too.

This is very true!!  It's sad that so many people nowadays buy to have a large constrictor to be cool or whatever and then not being educated about their care.
