morph breeding question

What would you get if you bred a reduced pattern and a spider? Think it would be something nifty ( yea I said nifty ) looking? Or would it be some spiders, some reduced patterns?

It all depends if your reduced pattern is genetic or not!

If it is co-dom/dom genetic you would get reduced pattern spiders, spiders, reduced pattern, and normals.  If it is not genetic you will get spiders and normals that may possibly take slightly after the reduced parent.  If it is recessive genetic then you would get spiders and normals that are het for reduced pattern.

We are currently playing with a genetic reduced pattern.  Ours is looking like it may prove out to be Co-dom, but we won't be able to prove it out until 2010-2011 breeding season as we are waiting for the offspring of the dad that have some reduced patterning to grow up!

This is what the founder of our line looks like.  He was proven Genetic By Ian G., but not far enough to know if it is dom or Co-dom.

Thank you for all that info! I really appreciate it. IDK, if my reduced pattern is genetic or not yet. I haven't bred him yet. ( he's 2 1/2 years old ) I really think it would be kickass to breed him to a spider, but then again I just want a spider

Your reduced pattern male is gorgeous!  :drool6: :drool6:

I'm glad I ran into this thread. My brother picked this guy up on Saturday and I was admiring its reduced pattern. I thought I was just nuts but thankfully I have found at least one other person who thinks it could be something down the line. I think it's a nice looking snake either way. I'm probably going to cross it with either a spider or a pastel when the time comes. Please keep us posted on your results. I have a ways to go yet before I am ready to get this project started.
