What is a safe way to trade?

So I'm in the middle of negotiating a trade with a guy on fauna and it seems legit, he's just really gung ho about it and I guess that's what makes me nervous. Not once did he ask me for pics of my leos, I was the one that asked for pics of his uro to make sure that he has it. I've just never done a trade of such value before, and while I don't have any feedback on fauna, I've dealt with quite a few breeders. I just don't know quite what to do because there's a chance that I will ship out Monday, and he will not. Is there a safe way to do this or do I just kind of have to trust the situation to go right?

Just make sure you keep all correspondence to and from this person. Also make sure you have all the contact info correct, name, address, phone number.  Get references if you can, but if not, all you can do is trust your own judgement.  Good luck.

You can also do a search on Fauna Classifieds to see if his name or screen name comes up as any good guy/bad guy threads.  Otherwise, what Kristi (Kricket_150) said is the same thing that I would say.

I say go with your gut. If you have a bad feeling, maybe you should reconsider, or have him ship first. If you can give him references, he shouldn't have a problem shipping first. I've shipped first in trades and all went well, but I've also read some horror stories. Just don't rush yourself, have you tried finding him on the BOI? Maybe ask him for references? Whatever you do, good luck!! :)

Yeah I've searched on BOI and googled him and everything, nothing bad has come up. Maybe I can have some references email him and he can ship first. I'd be happy shipping to a neutral party, but then there's extra shipping costs, ugh.

Well that's a good sign nothing bad came up. Usually if someone has screwed someone over, it'll come up somewhere, LOL. Unfortunately people are quick to post a bad transaction but rarely ever post a good one. Just see what your options are and hopefully it all works out.
