Venomoids
« on: January 04, 2009, 10:27:33 PM »
What are ya'lls view on this?
Now assuming we are talking about voided animals that have been done professionally by a vet and not half assed so that the glands and ducts grow back.
For or against? or both maybe?

It all depends on the purpose of them being voided in my eyes.  For educational purposes or scientific reasons, I don't think there is a problem, IF done professionally like you said.  I don't practice any religious rituals so I don't believe in them being voided for that.

im not really for or against them even though i dont keep venomoids. i say if you cant keep a venomous cobra you shouldnt have one to begin with. a venomoid cobra is not a cobra anymore its just a corn snake with a hood and fangs.  people that want to get a venomoid to show off to friends i would bet is mostly who buys them lol.... ill stick with the venomous ones.

URGH Voids -_-.
*SIgh* while i dispise it  perhaps there can be a use for it with PROFESSIONAL indivduals say whom  offer intership or to mentor individuals. The could be palced in charge of a voided animal an not told it is as such in order to train them to be able to work with the real fully loaded serpent.

Other wise.. Hell no -_-

LOL... Well check this out you guys. At the lab that I go to in school, they keep and manage different kinds of animals. It snot to hurt the creatures or anything, but we conduct sourt of experiments that wont hurt the creature. For example: We had a pair of gilla monsters not so long ago. We had a female which was named D, and a male which was named B... lol... We removed a short sample of venom from D and B and started viewing it under a heat sensored unit which shows the glands. Well to make long story short, we ended up finding out that when one removes or messes around with the glands and ducts, even when it grows back, the animal doesnt seem the same! I say this because the monsters and other species of snakes and lizards that ive seen this being done on them never feel the same. The monsters where scarred of feeding at first. It took them a while to get back to themselves. But still, I dont think that we should mess around with mother natures mirachaels and givings....

you raise a good point,  it could be used for a beginning hot keeper in "training" but i mean i really dont personally see any other reasons to do it, i mean your taking something this creature was born with, something it was born with for survival *sure the captives dont 'need" the survival skill " but i mean,....your changing a way an animal was made, just for your pleasures, It doesnt suit me well, personally

I really don't like the idea of voids for people that are keeping venomous just to keep them. I could see it being a good idea for beginners...as long as they don't know it's voided, but the reason I personally would keep one (and it would only be ONE) would be to include it in the educational demonstrations I would like to present later in life. Other than that though, if someone is keeping venomous just because they can then they should know what they are doing and be able to handle them properly with the threat of the venom still there, if they want something to free handle and play with they should look into corn snakes.
