if sh ewas pregnant it wouldn;t just be a lump - a lump canbe alotta things encluding an impaction... have you tried giving her a soak to see if she will poop?  tipid water for about 30 min tends to do the trick sometimes  she realy don;t look prego to me   but i could be wrong.

Beautiful snake man.  Its a little tough to tell by the pic but judging by your description and the time of year I'd say it very well may be prego.   One downfall to breeding venomous snakes is that you cant just pick up and palpate potentially pregnant females.  And waiting without knowing is a bitch.  Good luck.

Yeah. I used to be pretty bold with my venomous herps until I almost died in 2001 from a timber bite I got photographing a beautiful sulfur yellow female I caught.   After 26 vials of CroFab, a $60,000 hospital bill and the very real possibility of never seeing my family again, I take no chances now.  I still love my venomous herps, probably more now then before I was bit, but I dont feel any need to get any closer then hooks length to them.

Just keep that camera ready in case she is pregnant.  Their is nothing cooler, in my book, than seeing little baby rattlers being born.

To each their own but we would definetely like everyone here to know that safe handling technique's are the best way to go when dealing with hots.  Too many bad publications have already been made and we certainly don't need more!!

an thus why i prefer to use proper tools with my snakes rather then just holding them by the back of the head etc. The purpose of a tube is to allow you to safelye xamin an animal without the risk of being bitten though it is still tehre with some species  ao long as your firm but genetle an keep the pointy end outa the other end of the tube  (caps help with that) it makes it alot safer ;).
I would rather ha ethe tubes, know how to use them, be exprenced in using them thus when an emergncy comes up that requires soemthing hands on i can do it safely ;). tubbing is mostly commonsence, but i would rather tube then pin anyday.
Tubes, Hooks, Tongs etc, are all part of teh saftey gea rthat any hot keeper shuld be familar with weither being used or not though.

Tongs, tubes, hooks....No matter what you use, you can be bitten. Some people that have physical limitations, might want to arm themselves with as many gadgets as one can. I, personally, have none (limitations). I could tube a snake if I so desired. I could tube ANY snake if I so desired, but my desire for close company with hot snakes, other than at the end of my hook, has declined vastly with age. To say that not having or using a certain technique makes you irresponsible, is bullshit. You handle yours the way you want to and I will handle mine the way that I want to. I have caught and released more hots just this year alone than you probably have owned in your whole lifetime.  :rolfsmiley:
