Quote from: Donnie_K on August 27, 2009, 04:11:59 PMjust a little FYI... the "Colombian Red Tails" are the common BCI....There is a lot of debate on this, but there are some true BCC Colombians out there. Gus Rentfro speaks of them, but it is pretty rare to actually have one. Just because locality data is so fuzzy when two different snakes inhabit the same area. Just thought I'd chime in on that http://www.riobravoreptiles.com/boas_colombian.htmAlthough most of us think of the Colombian Boa as Boa Constrictor Imperator, their are definitely distinct populations of Boa Constrictor constrictor as well as BCI / BCC hybrids that occur in Columbia. Today its probably a moot point however, as the vast majority of our little friends are captive bred and none of us knows for certain where their ancestors were originally shipped in from.

Especially where territories overlap, the interbreeding between 2 locales is definitely occuring.

Yeah I did haha. I'm not super savvy with forums at all haha. BTW, the girl has shed, she still seems swollen but hasn't been laying strangely. I don't think she's pregnant...but not 100% certain on it. She may just be ready for a male now
This is true, but I don't think I've ever seen a columbian BCC in captivity (in 23 years of doing this). Only way I'd call one a BCC is if a scale count proved it to be so.

That's kinda sucky that she may not be prego but maybe she was just gettin nice and fat for a male? Not so sure about breeding of boas quite yet!!
Yeah, neither am I...I'm more leaving it up to my buddy who knows has these snakes, as I traded them for some stuff. But I'll keep this updated
