There seems to be some confusion in the Reptile Nation about what is going on here. HR2811 if passed would Ban ALL Pythons Nationwide. This is NOT a Florida bill. It is in the US House of Representatives. This is NOT about Burmese Pythons. IT IS ABOUT ALL PYTHONS!... from Ball Pythons on up... ALL PYTHONS!!! If HR2811 passes the House and Senate as written, the trade in ALL PYTHONS IS OVER!!

Our only chance is to get the bill amended. It is going to get voted on in subcommittee on Tuesday and the full House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. If we are unable to get it amended it will include ALL PYTHONS!

USARK is calling on the entire Reptile nation to turn out for a MASSIVE calling day tomorrow, Monday July 27, 2009!!! If we fail, the ability to work with ANY Python will be devastated. Don't let this happen. We owe it to our children and future generations to be able to enjoy these animals! This is the most fantastic hobby and profession there is. DO NOT LET IT DIE!

SCRIPT: My name is...... I want to register a NO on HR2811. If passed as written this bill will destroy thousands of families and small businesses. There is not a shred of scientific evidence to support banning all of the different species in the genus python. Not all pythons are the same. There are many different species. Please amend the bill to address only the IMPORT of the Burmese Python. Thank you for your consideration.

great idea on clalling tomorrow but no way in hell will I ask for an only ban on burmese pythons get out of here to many they aren't their fav python but to me they are I will not say stop the import on burmese pythons I'll say my peace of mind with respect of course but I find it amusing people are balming this on one species when many different pythons have been found in the glades including the little ball python. Sorry to ramble but I'm not ready to give up on the burmese python.

Congressman Trent Franks' office told me I was the 26th caller in this matter....cmon ppl call!!!!

Oh, and Congressmen Coble and Boucher's offices told me to contact my representative from my own state...I told them I have already, but he is not on the committee...so I am contacting all committee members :)

Just for those who say the connection with these bills and the HSUS is conspiricy theory material:

Both the Senate and House verison of the bill are listed as is the larger HR669 effort.  They are mobilized against us this time.  We must keep the pressure up.

If you are giving money to the Humane Society of the United States, you are directly supporting the ban.  Your local humane society is not affliated with the the HSUS.  The HSUS took that name to confuse the public into sending them contributions that would other wise go to supporting actual animals.  The HSUS is a political animal rights organization and does not operate a single animal shelter.

What I'm trying to figure out is why it has taken USARK so long to get notice out...these emails were sent out...what Friday?  When they vote on it today??  What's up with that?

I did my calls this morning,  spoke to each of the Congressman's offices.   There was one who transferred me twice to the Terrorism message line.   Hmmm.     In any event,  the response was overwhelmingly interested....a few of the interns asked really great questions.  A few wanted me off the phone quickly.  I didn't get the sense they were overwhelmed with phonecalls like the last time.  So call peeps!   I'll be calling my own Congressman today as well.

what really ticks me off is the hsus is on a mission to make it to where no animals will be captive, any rescues they take in they kill
