They are a large colubrid similar to a cribo or indigo. They do exceed 8'. Friendly and Hot is a controversial subject. Their venom is mild similar to a mangrove, but like celeste said, there's still a risk of an allergic reaction, which could in turn be worse than the bite itself. Like the indigos and cribos, Mussuranas have incredible jaws and a bite from an adult is strong enough to crush the bones in your fingers. I'd be more nervous about the bite itself than the venom injected. They're amazing animals, and not common among amateur herpetologists.
