I think the IDEA of what they're trying to do is a good thing. I voted thumbs up for FL. Burmese pythons are becoming the equivalent of rats and cockroaches in south FL. I get 5 to 10 calls a week about taking in burm rescues. The zoos want nothing to do with them, the herp societies try their best to relocate what comes in. There's actually no way to completely eradicate them from south FL. We should accept the fact that they ARE part of Florida's wildlife, and need to be controlled like any other form of wildlife. Yes, there are responsible snake owners out there, But an idiot can copy and paste a google search onto an ROC permit app, pay the $100 and POOF, they can suddenly have large constrictors. The state and senate are unfortunately going about the ecology problem in the wrong ways. Our letters to congress, along with USARK backing the reptile community's political platform are only partially helping the problem. Let's promote more education. There will always be big snakes in the world. They were here 65 million years before us, and they'll be here LONG after us. Eventually we all have to come to some sort of happy medium. =)
