Cut Lyric's Eggs This Morning
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:11:28 PM »
Well this clutch was kind of a heart breaker for me. She laid 17 w/ 4 slugs. All of the eggs but 4 candled up like a light bulb the day they were laid, but I incubated all of them anyway. Slowly but surely each one of the eggs that candled bad died off and I was left with these four.
Ultimately, I'll take what it looks like I am getting and things have worked out alright.

I think this little one is an albino granite.

It's really hard to tell in the egg because I can't see the head, but I believe this one to be a granite or a green granite.

This one is an albino green.

This one I am fairly positive is a green granite. I couldn't see this one's head either so we'll just have to wait and see.

These guys came from Lyric, my triple het female, and Tito, my albino granite - now proven het green male.

 :yeahthat:

They look gorgeous in their slime filled lil caves but....they are babies! and congratulations to you on them Joel!   :occasion13: to the babies!

In any event, I was also pleased to see your cutting technique end results, as I know I will be cutting at some point this week when the first lil stinker pips, and it resembles what I saw on a Prehistoric Pets vid...larger window.

Gratz Joel!

Thanks all!

Bree, when you cut just be careful not to go too deep.  I keep my razor blade almost parallel to the surface of the shell as I cut and just barely get the corner of it through.  I look forward to seeing your pics!

I have some blunt tip scissors I was planning to use for this, does that sound okay?  And I will be going parallel to the surface on this (this is where my nursing will come in handy!)  Ty for the pointers!

I've never tried scissors, but I would think as long as they aren't too big they probably won't hurt anything.

they are actually quite small, smaller than nail scissors, I use them to trim my shih tzu's lil bangs lol and they are blunt edged so figured they'd work well.

Have the wee pippers come out yet or still hanging in the goo?
