theres nothing wrong in the snake eating the prey items like that, some snakes are just shy... maybe shes stressed out a lil cause shes in a nev inviroment, if she eats without constricting she will eat for you with no problem IMO, the temps tho ... im a bit confused there, are the temps in the tote 90 or just on the hot spot ?, if its too hot for the snake and she has no where to escape from the heat she will stress out...
And yeah you should always heat the rats before feeding the snake so she can catch the heat signature of the prey it makes em crazzy :D.

Hope anything of this helps, im sure you will get more tips soon from other people too ...

Keep us updated on her and good luck !!!

juddb tought me a good trick try warming the rat with hot water like you have before then get some chick down its basically baby chick feathers put them into a zip lock bag and just put some feathers on the rats head usually snakes go insane for it my burm went off feed for about 4 months and this is how i got him eating again i don't use chick down anymore i just used it the 1st time to get him eating again now he eats with no problems i guess you can just give it a try it couldn't hurt.

Not a retic, but our Big Blood female does not strike and wrap its food.  She eats F/T and we heat it up and put it in.  Leave her be for an hour or so and the rat is gone.  She never misses a feeding.  We have watched her and she just slithers over to it, gets her mouth around the head or butt, picks it up and starts swallowing.  No quick strike move or coiling of the prey at all.  As long as it eats the F/T rat I really don't think it is a problem.  With one of our breeder normal female ball pythons we put a warmed up F/T rat in with her and leave it over night.  Not sure at what time at nite she decides to eat but 9 out of 10 times it is gone in the morning.

I used to have a big tiger retic male who was honestly the most BORING feeder in the world. He ate F/T and would litteraly come up and put his mouth around it as I held it and look at me like, "You can let go now... I already know it's dead!" as I usually shake my f/t feeders a little bit after they latch on to stimulate them to constrict. He made me feel like an idiot, lol.
They're all different, just like us :D

your temps are in the 90s?! thats lil hot for a retic darlin, if i rember right  the hot spot should be 80, an the cool side  obviously  lower O.o suprised donnie aint poped up on this thread :S.

A snake eating when your not watching is normal some get stressed out from  seeing a human hovering around, so it can be best with prekilled or f/t to just let'em lay  till the next day an give the animal a chance to eat.

You can also try a hide to make the snake feel more secure. I see some stuck shed on the snake there, whats your humdiity?

it's 90 on the hot spot with a cool spot in the high 70's.... if they can't get away from the heat with that cool side, you run into a lot of problems. They do need a 90 degree hot spot too though. How are you heating the tub? There's nothing wrong with the animal not wanting to hit the food item, would be nice if they were all so hesitant to strike... lol
