egg pipped!
« on: April 21, 2009, 10:57:17 PM »
Well, I opened the tub and saw a baby bp head sticking straight out! the firs tthing I honeslt did was laughed... it looked so funny and cute

So, since one pipped, I cut the eggs.

I dont have any photo’s....

but I am kinda concerned....

the one that pipped was obviously alive, but I didnt see movement from the others--- from what I coudl tell, they are in hatch position... but are they known for being very still? I didnt stare at them, but as I slit the eggs and put them back in, I didnt really see any changes in the oens I cut open...

Do you think they drowned or am I just being over worried? Are they known for staying still and fooling a person into fearing they are not alive? This very well could just be first time jitters, but I am just curious as to if they should be moving a lot or not...

Well, from what I can tell, I think I have 4 normals ( first to pip was a normal) and the rest look liek spiders- but dont hold me to that.

One egg., someting looks very weird- unless its the embilica cord I am seeing... just looks like a huge maggot- dont see any snake...

Camera battery is charging now! I just hope I wasnt too late in cutting them and lost them except that one... time will tell. According to the calender, its day 54- but I didnt catch the drop date right away... but I know its only a day or 2 off.

Any advice is grealy appreciated!!

about 54 days, give  a day or 2 since I didnt catch them right away.

But I did wait til they piped to cut them, or I was gonna wait til day 55.  But I figured since the one piped, i'd cut the rest.  It very well could have been day 55 or 56- hence why I was really checking religiously the past few days.

Now, I just can't wait to see them emerge from their egg.

I dont think I am gonna touch them... i'll just wait- on pins and needles.

How many days does it take for them to emerge?  And I should still keep the lid on, right? Its not complelty air tight, but should I poke soem holes into it?

oh usually just a few days before they start coming out. :) if you want to make some small holes in the lid you can, but I think they'll be fine.

YAY so this weekend I can see the little bugers!  I am realy curious as to the maggot snake... ( prolly the embilica cord) but I just wanna see if its ok or undeveloped...

On a kinda sillynote, that one that had that huge brown spot is a spider i am pretty sure...LOL, i dont know why i find that amusing, prolyl because I was worring about it all the time b/c of the discoloration.

but whew- as fun as this was, it was kinda nervewracking for the first time breeder! Kinda glad I got it over with- feel a little more confident, even tho I didnt really do anything but watch...lol... thanx mom snake and incubator!

Now, I just gotta worry about first meals after sheds, and of course, obsorbing their cords.

thanx so much for our input and advice!
