Growth question

I have a couple questions guys 1st of i heard from a friend not very knowledgable about snakes but has owned a few threwout his life and told me if you stop feeding you retic/burm for a while it will stunt or shall i say minimize his/her growth and will not get as big as it could of and to me it sounds rediculous but I just thought i would ask. Also i would like to know from ya'll the average length of a female retic within a year if feed properly not power feeding that you guys have experienced with your retics thanks again everyone!!!! :sign200:

hey um i would not try to stunt the snakes growth that could harm the snake u can lay off of feeding frequency by feeding like every 7 day but i would not go any further than that   and i have just now bought a retic but my dad owened a female retic when he was young that was 9 ft by the end of the year  and i have a female burm that is 7ft and a year and 2 moinths old so it varieys with genes and feeding i would exspect 6-10 ft in a year

1st of all  i never said i wanted to stunt my snakes growth i feed my female twice a week i would rather have a 20 footer then a 6 foot retic i would never do that to any of my snakes I didn't post this to know if i could stunt my snakes growth so don't jump to conclusions I was just wondering if it was true which i pretty much knew it wasn't I know I am coming off strong but it upsets me when people jump to conclusions. Next person...........

Calm down Troy, it will be ok, I promise... :D

Underfeeding a snake can cause it to not grow to it's full potential.  How big a retic gets in the first year also has to do with the locale of the snake and the sex of the snake. A mainland female can reach 9-10 feet in the first year.

Don't underfeed the things... not only does it stunt their growth, it F@%ks them up, seriously. I've never power fed one either... the feeding regimen we promote here is just about perfect to keep up with these things fast metabolism. People that think we're feeding these things too much usually only have boas and balls... and maybe a malnourished burm or retic. 9-10 foot seems to be the average in the first year for females, they sometimes hit growth spurts of almost a foot a month.
