Mites

So just took a look at my burm to see how his temps and humidity were looking for feces and so on and looked close and noticed he had mites!! None of my snakes have ever had mites i need to know how to treat/prevent them of happening again he's currently in his shed cycle so I'm not exactly to sure on what he'll let me do but I am willing to anything even if it means a nasty bite!! thanks again all.

i don't know how much ivermectin u give with the shot method, but u can mix 1 cc of pig ivermectin with 24 ounces of water in a spray bottle and use that on him and his habitat, u can also use lice bed spray on his habitat, it has the same ingreidents/ mixture as the reptile specialty mite spray

one of the best ways ot getr id of mites is to take an  put veggie oil or oilive oil on yoru hands an rub it over your snake, make sure your using  pape rof course for bedding  an take outa ll unnessayr substrate if you get that stuff that you can use to treat lice that a spray it works to just make sure your cage is completly dry before you use it on anything  the oil btw will suffocate the mites - others may have a diffrent method but this is how i deal with them ^^

ok well a few hours later i did all of the above i used bedding spray in my T12 cage used a fan to allow it to dry before putting my burm back in i also read you can drown mites also so i ran a bath at 80 degrees and bathed him trying to get as many off as i could then used olive oil and pissed my wife off because its expensive and its for her salads lol i told her my burm cost more then olive oil lol. i also did the same routine to my retic and RTB. I did come to a conclusion also i think my retic had mites when she was shipped to me and never noticed any but all the signs were there soaking in the water bowl constantly never really getting out really moody probably because she was pissed about the mites so i said F**k it i'm going to just going to do all my snakes and call it a night lol i do appreciate your help celeste and like always you have been lots of help and I'll post the results in a few days and  see how well everything worked thanks again to all you helped!!

i would go ahead and get some ivermectin, u can get a bottle at any co-op or tractor supply store......   mix a cc to a 24 oz bottle of water and spray the snakes and enslosure down daily for about 3 weeks, that is the life span for a mite infection.... u may kill the ones on the snake but don't think all is clear until you have went 3 weeks or more without any because the eggs can hatch out and start it all over again... also before u handle any snakes after handling one u suspect of having mites make sure to wash your hands thourghly with hot water and soap
